Course Information

Since 1919, Wood Badge has been the premier leadership training program for adult volunteers in Scouting. Building on the leadership principles first introduced by Lord Baden-Powell in 1911, Wood Badge has prepared more than 100,000 Scouters around the world to better serve youth through stronger leadership, teamwork, and communication.

Wood Badge is an immersive leadership course that combines the values and traditions of Scouting with proven leadership and team development concepts used by successful organizations today. Conducted over five days (typically two weekends), the course provides practical leadership skills, hands-on activities, and opportunities to work alongside fellow Scouters in a fun and engaging outdoor environment.

Wood Badge is more than a training course. It is an opportunity to grow as a leader and return to your unit with new ideas, renewed enthusiasm, and lifelong friendships.

During the course, you’ll become part of a Cub Scout pack and a Scouts BSA troop as you experience Scouting from a participant’s perspective. You’ll learn from an outstanding staff, collaborate with fellow Scouters, and even gain valuable insights from youth leadership.

Requirements to Participate in Wood Badge

• Be currently registered as an adult Scouter
• Be “Trained” for your current leadership position.
• Submit an Annual Health and Medical Form (parts A, B, and C)

Scouters from all councils are welcome to attend. We have a long tradition of hosting participants from other councils and look forward to sharing the Wood Badge experience with leaders from near and far.
