AB 506 Training

As a Scouting volunteer, you understand the importance of keeping children safe.

A recent bill (AB 506) was passed by the State of California requiring volunteers and staff of Youth Service Organizations to complete training in child abuse and neglect reporting, and undergo Live Scan background checks.

AB 506 went into effect on January 1, 2022. All registered BSA volunteer positions and employees including camp staff must comply with AB506. In addition, other volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who have direct contact with, or supervision of, children for more than 16 hours a month or 32 hours per year must complete a Live Scan background check (the digital version of inked fingerprinting) and complete online mandated reporter training.

This website supports all of California’s Scouting volunteers to ensure we all comply with California’s new law.
